How It Works

Get your order status display up and running in minutes. Follow these simple steps to connect your TV or monitor.

What You'll Need

  • A TV or monitor with HDMI input
  • A laptop, computer, or Raspberry Pi
  • HDMI cable
  • Internet connection (WiFi or Ethernet)

Setup Steps

1

Connect Your Device to the Display

Using an HDMI cable, connect your laptop, computer, or Raspberry Pi to your TV or monitor's HDMI port.

Device Options:

  • Laptop/Computer: Plug the HDMI cable into your device's HDMI output port
  • Raspberry Pi: Use the micro-HDMI port (Pi 4) or standard HDMI port (older models)
2

Select the HDMI Input on Your Display

Using your TV or monitor's remote control, select the HDMI input that matches the port you connected to (e.g., HDMI 1, HDMI 2).

Tip:

Look for a button labeled "Input," "Source," or "HDMI" on your remote. You should see your device's screen appear on the display.

3

Connect to the Internet

Ensure your device is connected to the internet via WiFi or Ethernet cable. This is required to display real-time order status updates.

4

Open Your Web Browser

Launch your preferred web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge) on your connected device.

5

Navigate to Your Display Page

Log in to your account at app.thestatus.dev and navigate to your Display page. This is the page that shows all your order statuses in real-time.

Pro Tip:

Bookmark your Display page URL for easy access in the future.

6

Enable Fullscreen Mode (Optional)

For the best viewing experience, press F11 (on Windows/Linux) or Command+Control+F (on Mac) to enter fullscreen mode. This hides the browser's address bar and menus.

Alternative:

You can also click the fullscreen button in most browsers (usually found in the menu or by right-clicking the page).

Raspberry Pi Setup

For a dedicated, low-cost display solution, we recommend using a Raspberry Pi.

Why Raspberry Pi?

  • Low Cost: Raspberry Pi devices start at around $35
  • Low Power: Uses minimal electricity compared to a laptop
  • Always On: Designed to run 24/7 without issues
  • Small Size: Can be hidden behind your display

Quick Raspberry Pi Setup

  1. Install Raspberry Pi OS on your device
  2. Connect to WiFi or Ethernet
  3. Install Chromium browser (usually pre-installed)
  4. Set the browser to open your Display page on startup
  5. Configure auto-login and kiosk mode for hands-free operation

Troubleshooting

Display shows "No Signal"

Make sure your HDMI cable is securely connected to both your device and the display. Try selecting different HDMI inputs on your TV/monitor. Verify your device is powered on.

Display is connected but page won't load

Check your internet connection. Try opening another website to verify connectivity. If using WiFi, ensure you're connected to the right network.

Screen resolution doesn't look right

Most devices automatically detect the correct resolution. If needed, adjust your device's display settings to match your TV/monitor's native resolution (usually 1920x1080 for Full HD displays).
